oh, how i wish i was in attendance for this show

I like Balmain. I also like how Christophe Decarnin has his ascetic that he sticks by. He clearly likes this rocker- girl thing, and it doesn't matter what season he's in, he's going to show that point of view, which is delightful. It works for him, the label, and obviously the thousands of people who relish in his designs. Often, you see designers just go all willy-nilly with their inspirations, and often, there is a disconnect between seasons, and you wouldn't know by looking at it who designed it. I suppose this isn't a bad thing though, because it keeps you on your toes, and you aren't exactly sure what is going to come from them. But, I like knowing that Balmain is going to be the rocker-chick every season, even though the woman he designs for may change. I felt like spring 2010 was more for the band groupie, all ragged, yet chic, and this season is pushed towards a more sophisticated, perhaps older woman, who still has that edge.
