oh, darling.

How I managed to go 13 years without watching Breakfast at Tiffany's, I don't know. I did watch it tonight, though. I loved it, because it was so classic. The newer movies coming out now aren't nearly as meaningful, because they don't have that clever sort of plot and interesting storyline.

I love how she said 'darling' every other sentence and how she named the cat 'Cat'. Simply smashing.

I was just so happy with the clothing in this movie. The shapes in Holly's clothes are just so wonderfully classic beautiful, and the shapes were soooo flattering on her. They were just so glamourous yet cleanly cut. I just love how the clothes are so simple, yet so perfect. The clothing in this movie are like the most elegant collection of garments ever involved together in a film. If I'm not sadly mistaken, they're all Givenche. I may be wrong though.

I love the over-the elbows gloves. They match the dress and just make it more classic. I'd like several pairs, please.

My favorite was the dress she wore in the first scene of the movie, where she has all of the pearl necklaces and beads. I now also want to try out the way that they put the jewelry in her hair, because it just has that sort-of elegant-but-not-trying-too-hard elegant. I am in absolute loooooooooooooooove with how it was pretty much always up in that bun. So elegant in every way possible.

I am also loving that hat she wore, I think, twice. It's so huge and dramatic, and the ribbon just ties it all together.

My favorite quote:

Holly: You know those days when you get the mean reds?
Paul: The mean reds, like the blues?
Holly: No, the blues are because you're getting fat and maybe it's been raining too long, you're just sad, that's all. The mean reds are horrible. Suddenly, you're afraid and you don't know what you're afraid of. Do you ever get that feeling?
Paul: Sure.
Holly: Well, when i get it the only thing that does any good is to jump into a cab and go to Tiffany's. Calms me down right away. The quiet and proud look of it, nothing bad could happen to you there. If I could find a real-life place that'd make me feel like Tiffany's, then I'd buy some furniture and give the cat a name!

I think now I am going to use "the mean reds" in everyday context now, and see if people understand me.
